The work, with strong psychological intensity and great formal effectiveness, is inspired by the iconography of the souls in purgatory. The exhibition will be open to the public from 2 to 10 November 2024, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 13 pm and from 15 pm to 18 pm.
A Journey into the Soul: Interpretations and Reflections
In the presentation of the painting, Prof. Andrea Capasso will offer a critical report on the work, while Dr. Giuseppe Serroni will present his book “Fate bbene all'Anime d' 'o Priatorio – Le anime pezzentelle nel Presepio Napoletano”. The artist Davide Stasino will also be present, ready to interact with the public and answer their questions. The event marks an interesting exploration of the themes of spirituality and the human condition, placing particular emphasis on the transformation of the soul through the depiction of a body in a fetal position shrouded in darkness.
A Work and its Deep Meaning
In “Anima Sospesa”, Davide Stasino explores the concept of the soul in waiting, embodying the theme of purgatory. The figure immersed in darkness, in a sort of incubation, is represented as a soul suspended between the past and an indefinite future. It is a reflection of the human journey, an image that invites viewers to reflect on themselves and their existence. The work will subsequently be transferred to the Church Museum of Santa Luciella ai Librai on November 11, where it will remain permanently accompanied by collateral events such as conferences and workshops.
