Further disturbances erupted at the Ariano Irpino prison in the province of Avellino after an inmate with psychiatric problems attacked several prison officers and then the prison infirmary doctor.
The latter first attempted to destroy the furniture inside the registration office and then, during a meeting with the psychiatrist, he behaved violently, also injuring two officers.
This was reported by Stefano Sorice, local coordinator of Uilpa Penitenziaria. inmate He was later taken to hospital, but upon returning to prison he attempted to hang himself in his cell.
Thanks to the timely intervention of the officers on duty, the episode had no further consequences.
