Caserta. Agents of the Caserta mobile squad snapped the handcuffs on the wrists of another piece of Campania's organized crime.
After years on the run, Salvatore Orabona, a well-known boss of the Casalesi clan, has been captured.
Orabona, nicknamed “cuglitiello”, was wanted for attempted murder aggravated by mafia methods and for criminal association. His arrest, which took place in Pignataro, is the result of an intense investigative activity coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office.
The boss, who had previously collaborated with justice and then retraced his steps, is considered responsible for numerous crimes, including extortion, money laundering and murder. His key figure within the clan of Casale made it particularly dangerous.
He appears to be the recipient of an execution order following a final conviction of 9 years and 4 months in prison for attempted murder, aggravated by mafia methods, committed on 20 July 2001, in Aversa.
The motive for the crime was attributable to the fact that the victim was part of an autonomous criminal group, formed without any authorization from the Casalesi clan, whose members had carried out extortion activities in the Aversa area, without paying the related proceeds into the clan's common coffers.
