Davide Iovine was 43 years old and is the victim of the accident that struck the Phlegraean town this weekend. Originally from Naples and resident in Bacoli, he was riding his motorcycle, a Voge 500, when he lost control of the vehicle, ending up on the pavement and losing his life instantly.
The accident occurred on Via Montegrillo. Iovine was traveling with a 36-year-old woman, who was taken to the hospital. The dynamics of the accident are not yet entirely clear, but it seems that the man lost control of the vehicle, ending up on the ground and dying instantly.
The woman who was with him is currently hospitalized at the Ospedale del Mare, not in danger of life. The body of Davide Iovine has been seized and will undergo the necessary autopsy tests to clarify the psychophysical conditions of the victim and establish whether the tragedy was caused by a distraction or by the driver's illness.
The autopsy will be carried out at the Forensic Medicine Center of the II Policlinico of Naples.
Mayor Josi della Ragione expressed his condolences upon learning of the terrible news, which spread on social media yesterday morning. " Bacoli mourns the loss of young Davide, 43, who died in a tragic road accident that occurred last night in our city," the mayor wrote on his social media profile. "This news has shocked the entire community. We share the grief of his family and friends, and we are close to those involved in the accident. Farewell, Davide. May you rest in peace."
The tragedy occurred around 1:00 AM yesterday, on the stretch of road that connects Baia with Lucrino. The Carabinieri of the Pozzuoli company have started investigations and conducted surveys at the site of the accident.
It is inevitable to reflect on the high number of victims that are counted on the roads during the night hours every weekend. The topic of road safety remains on the agenda, but the number of deaths continues to increase, involving motorcyclists more and more frequently.
