The Sac. Giovanni Alagi Library, located within Villa Bruno, was recognized as a model of excellence in library management during the sixth edition of #Bibliosmart, held at the Superintendence of Archives and Bibliography of Campania. The event, held in the prestigious Salone delle Feste of Palazzo Diomede Carafa, featured Mayor Giorgio Zinno and Library Director Angela Marmolino in a focus group along with representatives of 25 other entities, including the Campania Region, the Italian Library Association, the Superintendence, and numerous municipalities and associations.
During the meeting, the municipal library of San Giorgio a Cremano was brought as a virtuous example for the definition of minimum standards of library functioning at a regional level. During the round table, the state of libraries in Campania was discussed, underlining the importance of establishing homogeneous quality standards, capable of guaranteeing efficiency and promoting libraries as cultural and social centers within communities.
In this context, San Giorgio a Cremano has distinguished itself for the efficiency of its services, its specialized staff, and its ability to promote cultural initiatives that transform the library into a hub not only for students but for the entire community. An example of this commitment is the recent inauguration of the "Sala della Mehari di Giancarlo Siani – Sala della Memoria," a project that welcomes numerous visitors and school groups every day, engaged in activities dedicated to legality and culture.
"We are a community that has always believed in the power of culture, and libraries are the beating heart of this commitment," said Mayor Giorgio Zinno. "From Bibliobimbi to the library in the 'All'ombra dei Libri' park, we are expanding spaces dedicated to reading and culture to promote social inclusion, community well-being, and the education of more informed and knowledgeable new generations."
