Bonucci joins the staff of Under 20 national team – Leonardo Bonucci returns to wear the blue, but this time with a different role. The former defender of the Italian national team has in fact been appointed assistant coach of the Under 20 team, led by Bernardo Corradi. Bonucci will accompany the group in the preparation for the World Cup of the category, which will be held in September in Chile.
“I am proud to accept the President's proposal Gravina and ready for this new experience”, said Bonucci, European champion in 2021. “Returning to wear the blue jersey will be truly exciting. It's time for me to observe, study and learn. Working alongside a great person like Bernardo Corradi, with his experience in training young talents, will allow me to combine my knowledge and experience with the vision of future blue champions”.
Bonucci then underlined the values that he will bring with him in this new phase of his career: “This journey will not lack humility, work, team spirit and sacrifice, the same principles that have allowed me to build a great career. I thank President Gravina and Mister Corradi for this extraordinary opportunity”.
The satisfaction was also shared by the president of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina, who enthusiastically welcomed Bonucci's return to the federation. “Leonardo comes home”Said Gravina. "He does it in a different role, but with the same enthusiasm and love for the blue jersey. We are happy to offer our champions an opportunity to grow as coaches, as we did with Daniele De Rossi. I am sure that Leo will be able to mature a lot in blue and make a significant contribution to the training of future federal coaches".
