Casavatore: Official motion of no confidence filed against Mayor Maglione, people are already thinking about the future – The political crisis officially opens in Casavatore: nine city councilors have filed a motion of no confidence against Mayor Luigi Maglione. The document, sent to the Prefect of Naples, the general secretary of the Municipality and the President of the Council Claudio Caturano, marks the culmination of days of political tension and cross-accusations. Now, the motion will have to be discussed and voted on in the City Council quickly.
Among the signatories, we find representatives of both the majority and the opposition. For the majority, Fabio Machiella, Maria Marino, Tommaso D'Auria and Giuseppe De Rosa of the Democratic Party signed the motion of no confidence, together with Alessandro Sorrentino of the 5 Star Movement. From the opposition, Vito Marino (former mayor), Giovanni Russo, Elena Alessio and Giulia Marotta joined. With nine signatures, the number needed to decree the early fall of the mayor has been reached, making the outcome of the next vote in the Council almost certain.
The climate of conflict is palpable, and the Democratic Party immediately took a position with a public manifesto, openly criticizing Maglione's solitary management. “We have a great opportunity for the future of this city”, we read in the press release. "Participation and sharing are the essence of politics. Enough with a mayor alone in command, it's time to start again with a new serious and ambitious project, for the growth of Casavatore".
The PD then doubled down on the accusations via the official website of the local section, highlighting what it considers to be the increasingly marked isolation of the mayor. "The time has come to unmask those who play with the skin of the citizens. Any organization needs a leader who understands the basic rules of democracy. Our mayor, instead, imagines that he can manage the entire municipal machine alone, together with a few loyalists, completely detaching himself from reality."
