The ramp on Provincial Road 1, the "Circumvallazione Esterna di Napoli," in the municipality of Casavatore, will be inaugurated tomorrow, Wednesday, October 16, at 9:30 a.m., following widening work planned by the Metropolitan City of Naples. This crucial work for traffic flow north of Naples promises to alleviate particularly congested traffic in that area.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by the metropolitan mayor Gaetano Manfredi, the deputy metropolitan mayor Peppe Cirillo, the councilor responsible for Roads Dionigi Gaudioso, the mayor of Casavatore Luigi Maglione and Antonio Troiano, president of the VII Municipality of the Municipality of Naples.
The works, worth a total of 400 thousand euros, allowed the carriageway to be widened from 7 to 10 metres, resolving the difficulties of manoeuvring for heavy vehicles, such as trucks and buses, which in the past were forced to partially occupy the opposite lane to exit the ramp. Thanks to the intervention, the interference between the incoming and outgoing traffic flows was eliminated, along a key section of the Circumvallazione and the municipal road Via Taverna Rossa, which marks the border between the municipalities of Naples and Casavatore.
Despite the importance of the work, the ramp has been at the centre of political tensions in Casavatore. The difficulties in the local administration, which worsened during the works, led to the resignation of the mayor Luigi Maglione, triggering a crisis within the majority. However, with the reopening, it is hoped that the new infrastructure can at least solve the traffic problems, improving circulation and road safety in one of the busiest areas of Naples.
