The former sole director of Alto Calore spa, Michelangelo Ciarcia, and eleven others investigated in the inquiry into training courses dedicated to staff that were never carried out despite the resources received, have been sent to trial.
The preliminary hearing judge of the Court of Avellino, Giulio Argenio. The first hearing of the trial has been set for March 21, 2025. The defendants, to varying degrees, are accused of embezzlement, tax fraud, issuing false invoices, false corporate communications, and undue compensation.
Two defendants, who requested and obtained the abbreviated trial, were sentenced to three years in prison. The investigation by the Avellino Public Prosecutor's Office, coordinated by prosecutors Luigi Iglio and Vincenzo Russo, was launched in February last year on the basis of complaints filed by employees of the institution.
The sole director, Michelangelo Ciarcia, was subsequently banned from office for one year. The current director of Alto Calore, Antonello Lenzi, has constituted the entity as a civil party. The Gup accepted the request only in relation to the charges that refer to the crime of embezzlement.
