The Naples Court of Assizes of Appeal has upheld the life sentence handed down in the first instance to Vincenzo Palumbo.

The truck driver from Ercolano, on the night between 28 and 29 October 2021, shot and killed Tullio Pagliaro and Giuseppe Fusella, the two twenty-year-olds from Portici mistaken by the defendant for thieves.

The second degree trial began last July 4th. Palumbo he had been sentenced to life imprisonment for the double voluntary homicide of the boys on March 16, 2023 by the Assize Court of Naples.

“We hope that this sad page, which has shocked a community, ends here,” said attorney Maurizio Capozzo, the Pagliaro family's legal representative, adding that "the sentence fully accepts our position and renders justice for a crime that is still inexplicable."
