Ettore Cuozzo, 36 years old from Rotondi in the first instance, the Court of Avellino had sentenced Cuozzo to 1 year and 2 months of imprisonment. It will be remembered that Cuozzo was arrested in flagrante delicto while escaping from house arrest in Cervinara.
Today, the Court of Appeal of Naples overturned the first-instance verdict, acquitting Cuozzo. Assisted by lawyer Vittorio Fucci, Cuozzo has recently obtained a series of acquittals for various crimes, including extortion, possession of explosive devices, threats and serious injuries.
