Millennial Traditions for Sustainable Agriculture
The Archaeological Park of Pompeii is committed to protecting its natural heritage, alongside its archaeological heritage, with a redevelopment project that aims to enhance the vast heritage of olive trees present in its sites. In collaboration with UNAPROL and APROL Campania, harvesting techniques are used that are based on historical methods described by authors such as Columella and Pliny the Elder. These practices respect the plants, preserve biodiversity and promote the environmental sustainability of the territory.
Agricultural Project and Social Collaboration
The event is part of the Azienda Agricola Pompei project, aimed at the natural redevelopment of the Park. The harvests take place in various sites, including Stabia and Civita Giuliana, where traditional varieties such as Minucciola and Ogliarola are grown, as well as others in danger of extinction such as Nostrale. The initiative involves young people who participate in social agriculture activities, under the guidance of the IL TULIPANO Onlus social cooperative, which will offer visitors the opportunity to taste the exceptional PÙMPAIIA oil.
