Germany, train ambush – Tension and violence marked the journey of Rot-Weiss Essen fans on their way to their Bundesliga third-division match against Hansa Rostock. A special train carrying hundreds of supporters of the German team was suddenly stopped and attacked in Brandenburg, between Berlin and Rostock, before Saturday's match.

A police spokesperson confirmed the incident, stressing that the incident was under investigation, without immediately providing further details. However, according to several media reports, the attack began with the activation of the emergency brake, which stopped the train at an isolated point.

At that point, a large group of masked people surrounded and attacked the train, smashing numerous windows and causing clashes outside the carriages. It is still unclear whether the attackers were Hansa Rostock fans. At the moment, the police are trying to trace the identity of the attackers and their motives.
