Giugliano. It was supposed to be a normal family Sunday with a walk, coffee and sweets at the pastry shop but it ended in a completely unexpected way.
We are in Giugliano in Campania, in a crowded pastry shop on Corso Campano. Customers, queuing to buy typical local sweets, are waiting their turn, including a 33-year-old man accompanied by his wife and son.
Among the crowd, however, there is also an off-duty carabiniere, in plain clothes, just finished his shift. Like many others, he had stopped to buy pastries to take home, but the day will take a different turn.
The 33-year-old, subjected to home detention, had decided to go out with his family, thus violating the restrictive measure.
The policeman immediately recognizes him, calls 112 and very discreetly approaches the man, placing a hand on his shoulder to avoid embarrassing scenes in front of the other customers.
Calmly, we wait for the patrol to arrive. The man is arrested for evasion and taken back to house arrest, awaiting trial.
