A tense, adrenaline-filled evening along the Asse Mediano. Shortly before 21 p.m., Carabinieri from the Giugliano mobile radio unit spotted a suspicious Alfa Romeo 147 while patrolling Via Oasi Sacro Cuore. Inside the car were four young men, all wearing surgical masks and caps. When ordered to stop, the car broke out in a frenzy.
The chase lasted for approximately ten kilometers, towards Lago Patria, with the Alfa Romeo racing at very high speeds, performing extremely dangerous maneuvers. During the chase, eight cars belonging to unsuspecting residents were damaged. The chase ended when the Alfa driver, a 17-year-old boy, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a guard rail.
The four occupants attempted to escape into the surrounding countryside, but were all apprehended by the Carabinieri. They are young Roma people, residents of the Via Carrafiello camp: the 17-year-old driver, a 16-year-old, and two adults, aged 19 and 20, already known to law enforcement.
The two adults and the underage driver were arrested, while the 16-year-old was reported and released to his parents. Inside the Alfa Romeo, officers found several burglary tools, a clear sign that the four were ready to commit further thefts. The suspects will be held accountable by the Naples North and Juvenile Prosecutors' Offices. Napoli for resisting a public official and possession of burglary tools.
