The 5 Star Movement of Portici has contributed to an important result in solving a problem that in recent months had created serious inconveniences for citizens: the lack of general practitioners.
Following numerous retirements, the shortage of health personnel had in fact forced many residents of Portici to register with family doctors in neighboring municipalities, such as Ercolano and San Giorgio a Cremano.
Iolanda Meglio , municipal councilor for the Five Star Movement in Portici, has announced with satisfaction that in the coming weeks, six new general practitioners will begin work in the local health district, putting an end to an emergency situation that has persisted for months.
“This morning I was at the ASL and received official confirmation that six new doctors have been appointed, who should start working in the next few days,” Meglio said.
Since the beginning of the year, we have been working to urge the competent bodies, namely the ASL and the Campania Region, to remedy the shortage of family doctors in Portici, caused by the retirement of numerous doctors. This has forced many citizens to turn to doctors from neighboring municipalities, creating considerable inconvenience.”
During a meeting at the ASL Health District 34, Meglio received assurances that the six new doctors assigned to the Portici area will soon begin service.
This result is the fruit of the constant commitment of the 5 Star Movement, which fought with determination to resolve a problem that involved hundreds of families.
As the 5 Star Movement, we have worked hard to ensure that the problem was resolved as quickly as possible – continued Meglio – and we have been at the forefront in involving our regional representatives, making the voices of the citizens of Portici heard. Today we can say that we have contributed to achieving a significant result for our community.”
The Five Star Movement reaffirms its commitment to protecting citizens' rights and responding concretely to the needs of the local community. "We are always ready to intervene to defend everyone's rights," the councilor concluded, "and we will continue to ensure that local healthcare services are efficient and accessible to all."
