Magliocca under investigation in Caserta – A new development in the investigation by the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office is shaking up the political landscape of the province of Caserta. Provincial President Giorgio Magliocca, a member of Forza Italia, is among ten people under investigation in an investigation into alleged illicit exchanges involving contracts and sponsorships for a football team. The investigation, conducted by Deputy Prosecutors Gerardina Cozzolino and Giacomo Urbano under the direction of Prosecutor Pierpaolo Bruni, is a branch of the main investigation that has already implicated Campania regional councilor Giovanni Zannini, who is also facing corruption charges.
According to investigators, the construction entrepreneur Cosimo Rosato allegedly obtained contracts worth 250 thousand euros thanks to the intervention of public employees and Magliocca. In exchange, Rosato allegedly financed with 40 thousand euros the sponsorship of a local soccer team in Vitulazio, paying its coach and staff. Other entrepreneurs are also at the center of the investigation, including Adolfo Raimondo, accused of having obtained a subcontract without the necessary authorization, and Gianpaolo Benedetti, who allegedly received contracts after having paid money for the same soccer team linked to Magliocca.
The affair is part of a broader context of alleged favors and bribes related to public procedures, which has already emerged with the involvement of Zannini. Also Magliocca, mayor of Pignataro Maggiore, was the subject of searches by the Carabinieri, who this morning raided the offices of the Province, located in the Saint Gobain area, and his home.
The investigations focus on an alleged system of rigged tenders in exchange for hidden funding, a modus operandi that would involve not only politicians and public managers, but also several local economic operators. The searches, which concern in particular the construction and road sectors of the Province, aim to shed light on a network of corruption that has already overwhelmed several political exponents and entrepreneurs, fueling a climate of tension and suspicion in the province of Caserta.
