Chase in Caserta — Moments of terror for a young woman and her current partner, chased and rear-ended by her ex, a 44-year-old from Santa Maria Capua Vetere, armed with two baseball bats. The man was arrested by the Carabinieri after a high-speed chase along the Via Appia, in Casagiove.
The episode began outside the premises where the woman, a 28-year-old of Ukrainian origins living in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, works. As soon as she noticed the unwanted presence of her ex, sitting in the car outside, the young woman alerted her new partner and regularly started her work shift, hoping to avoid the confrontation.
When her partner arrived to pick her up, the couple tried to drive away, but the ex noticed them and decided to follow them. During the chase, the 44-year-old drove alongside their car several times, hitting them and trying to block their escape. At one point, the man pulled a baseball bat out of the window, threatening the two.
The chase lasted several kilometers until Casagiove, where the Carabinieri of the local station, supported by the soldiers of the 10th Campania Regiment, intervened after an emergency call to 112. Blocked by the police, the man was found in possession of the two baseball bats, one of which was used for threats. The 44-year-old was arrested on charges of aggravated threats and attempted damage.
