Marcianise. “What happened to the Campania Region?” This is what the workers at the multinational’s Marcianise plant are asking Jabil, engaged in a tough dispute against the company's top management, who a few months ago announced their intention to cease operations in Marcianise and therefore in Italy by March 2025.
A choice that seriously puts at risk 420 jobs in a province that has long recorded low employment rates, especially among young people and women.
Last Friday, Jabil workers demonstrated in the streets of Marcianise with a torchlight procession in which the only politicians taking part were members of the Democratic Party (PD) Stefano Graziano (MP) and the president of the Campania Regional Council Gennaro Oliviero, in addition to the mayor Antonio Trombetta and his municipal administration.
“We wonder – we read in a note from the company's internal union delegates (RSU) – what happened to other important players, who should also sit at our ministerial tables, such as the Councilor for Productive Activities of the Campania Region Antonio Marchiello, as well as his direct superior, interested only in the possibility of the Third Mandate.
We need politics with a capital 'P' that really makes its voice heard, at a crucial moment for our site, on which so many hands are reaching out”.
