La Zuppa della Bontà: Fundraising for the homeless returns in eight Italian cities

The Soup of Goodness – The appointment with “ is backThe Soup of Goodness“, the initiative promoted by Progetto Arca to raise public awareness on the issue of homeless people and raise funds to provide hot meals to the most vulnerable during the winter.

In the gazebos set up for the occasion, volunteers will distribute three different versions of organic soups – “health soup”, “traditional soup” and “farro and lentil soup” – made thanks to the collaboration with the fair trade cooperative Chico Mendes Altromercato. The soup packages, to be cooked at home, will be offered in exchange for a minimum donation of 5 euros, intended to guarantee hot meals on the street for those who need them most.

“For ten years we have been bringing this event to Italian squares – declares Alberto Sinigallia, president of Progetto Arca –. Soup, with its symbolic and nutritional value, represents an essential meal for those who live on the streets and do not have access to healthy and hot food. Every evening, thanks to our Mobile Kitchens, we ensure a daily appointment with food for the most fragile people. I thank all the volunteers and partner associations who make this initiative and the precious daily work possible”.

In Milan and Rome, Progetto Arca volunteers will be present, while in the other cities they will be supported by local organizations: the Cooperativa Animazione Valdocco in Turin, the Cooperative Sociale Cosep in Padua, the Angeli di Strada Villanova in Naples, InConTra in Bari, the Caritas Diocesana in Ragusa, and the Opera Don Guanella – Casa dell'Angelo in Genoa. Further support for the initiative will also be provided on Friday, October 25 by employees of companies such as H&M, Team Lewis, Axa and Amazon, engaged on the front lines in the distribution of soups and in promoting the mission of Progetto Arca.
