He was caught thanks to a photo taken by a witness. On September 24, a professional was stopped in his car in Largo Giuseppe Tardini in Rome. Two of them entered into action on a scooter and stole a Rolex worth 40.000 euros.
A girl passing by on a bus, however, had immortalized the scene with her smartphone and sent the shot to the victim's wife.
Thanks to this precious evidence, the police were able to identify one of the two robbers, Luigi De Luca, a 39-year-old from Naples.
Last Thursday, during a service to prevent robberies of jewelry and watches from people on the street, the police recognized one of the two alleged robbers and stopped him, and the investigating judge validated the arrest, ordering his pre-trial detention in prison.
From his past, it emerges that De Luca is part of an organized gang based in Campania, specialized in robberies of luxury watches. Investigations are still ongoing to track down the accomplice, still at large.
He had already been arrested in 2020
Luigi De Luca was arrested in Rome in 2020 for stealing a Rolex Daytona worth 30 thousand euros. He was released from prison a year later and then acquitted in 2023.
'Boban's' lawyers had demonstrated that De Luca had never left Naples on the day of the robbery.
