On Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 6:30 pm, a photography exhibition will be inaugurated in the Annunziatella Hall of the Madonna delle Galline Sanctuary on Via Striano in Pagani. It will run until October 22. The event is promoted by the Ambress'…Am..press cultural association, the Museum of Civilizations, the Central Institute for Intangible Heritage, the Department of Political and Social Studies of the University of Salerno, the Municipality of Pagani, and the Archconfraternity of SM Incoronata del Carmine, known as the Confraternity of the Hens.
The History Behind the Exhibition
The photographic exhibition is the result of a long documentation work carried out by Sabina Cuneo (Rome, 2 February 1956 – 9 September 2016), in collaboration with Carmine Puzo, who has immortalised the Feast of the Madonna delle Galline since the late 2.069s. A small part of this vast archive of XNUMX black and white film shots, deposited at the Museo delle Civiltà, will be exhibited for the first time.
The Project Goal
The initiative to organize this exhibition was born from the desire of members of the local community to enhance the Feast of the Madonna delle Galline and to document its changes over time. The project saw the participation of associations, local institutions and ministerial institutions interested in the protection and enhancement of the Italian cultural heritage, both material and immaterial, linked to popular traditions.
Inaugural Event and Catalogue Presentation
During the inauguration on October 12, 51 large-format photographs will be exhibited, representing a significant preview of the work of Cuneo and Puzo. The evening will also be an opportunity to present the exhibition catalogue and the programmatic agreement signed by all the entities that collaborated in the realization of the event.
Visiting Hours
The exhibition will be open to the public every day from 9 to 12 by reservation and from 17 to 20. The organizers invite all interested parties to participate to discover and appreciate the precious work of documentation of local popular traditions.
