Maikol Giuseppe Russo will have a burial place in the Secondigliano cemetery

Naples. After eight long years, Maikol Giuseppe Russo, the 27-year-old innocent victim of a Camorra ambush on New Year's Eve 2015 in Forcella, will finally be given a dignified burial in the Secondigliano cemetery. Thanks to the commitment of the Naples City Council.

This was made possible thanks in particular to the cemeteries councilor Vincenzo Santagada and the deputy mayor Laura Lieto, who ensured that a burial niche was assigned to Maikol at the Secondigliano cemetery.

The municipal administration will cover all the expenses necessary for the arrangement of the tomb, thus offering a concrete gesture of closeness to the Russo family and to the entire community of Forcella.

The news was greeted with great emotion by Antonio Raio, president of the Forcella merchants' association, who publicly thanked all the people who worked to achieve this important result. Among these, in addition to the institutional representatives, Raio cited the honorable Francesco Emilio Borrelli, the president of the Teatro Trianon Gianni Pinto and the vice president of Altra Napoli Onlus Antonio Lucidi.

We remember that Maikol Russo was killed in via Calenda while waiting for his brother in front of a bar. A commando of eight people on scooters opened fire indiscriminately, fatally hitting the young man in the head. An absurd crime that shocked the city and that still today leaves a deep sense of pain and injustice.”
