The 68-year-old man had brutally attacked her with a club, hitting her repeatedly while she was helpless on a deckchair. The echo of her heart-rending screams shattered the silence of a seemingly peaceful afternoon, forcing neighbors to call for help.

The carabinieri, arriving on the scene, found themselves faced with a horrifying scene: the woman, with her body battered and her face swollen, was lying on the terrace, while the attacker, still brandishing the murder weapon, threatened her.

The timely intervention of the police avoided the worst, but the injuries suffered by the victim are serious.
