Naples is preparing for a real tourist boom on the occasion of the Jubilee of 2025. According to estimates by the Municipality's Department of Tourism, the city will welcome around 18 million visitors, compared to the 13,3 million tourists of 2023 and the almost 14 million expected.
in 2024. In fact, for the Jubilee of 2025, it is expected that, in addition to ordinary tourists, approximately 4,5 million pilgrims will arrive in Naples, for a total of over 18 million visitors.
The data was disclosed by the Budget Councillor, Pier Paolo Baretta, during the presentation of the Single Programming Document (DUP) to the City Council.
“Naples, thanks to its historical heritage and the numerous religious sites present both in the city and throughout the Region, will be, after Rome, one of the main destinations of this great religious event”, Baretta declared. “Il Jubilee not only will it attract millions of pilgrims, but it will have a significant tourism impact that will also extend into 2026.”
The councilor emphasized how the municipal administration is preparing to face the challenges related to such a high flow of visitors. "Naples can emerge from this experience enriched and enhanced, but also subjected to considerable pressure. The efforts made in recent years to manage the tourist explosion have been significant and successful, but the Jubilee represents a further leap in quality", he added.
To cope with this extraordinary event, the Municipality is developing an extraordinary plan to improve reception and manage services, with particular attention to transport and urban cleaning. A crucial aspect to ensure that the city can adequately manage the record number of expected visitors.
Baretta finally referred to the possibility of an adjustment of the tourist tax, provided for by the budget law: “The option to increase the tax to 2 euros has been granted, but any decision on this matter will be taken in agreement with the operators in the sector”.
