Naples. Just a few steps away from the heart of the city, with a view of the sea, the gulf and the Vesuvio, to a place that seems like a ghost town, where degradation and abandonment take the place of the postcard beauty of Naples.
For years, the monumental staircase on Via Tasso has been left neglected, overgrown with uncontrolled brush and weeds, and marked by incivility, with piles of rubbish and dirt left on the steps.
This staircase, which should connect the hilly area of the city to the sea, instead seems to lead into an urban jungle.

"It's a disgrace that's been going on for over three years," says a citizen who documented the degradation and contacted Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Green-Side Alliance.
"Naples and its history are increasingly prey to neglect, incivility, and vandalism. Without a concrete plan for the maintenance and protection of historic sites, and without a serious fight against incivility, we're going nowhere. Indeed, we're hurtling toward the abyss of decadence," commented Borrelli, along with Europa Verde city councilors Lorenzo Pascucci and Gianni Caselli.
