Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes was arrested on September 8 in Madrid on charges of stealing a cell phone from a nightclub. The incident occurred at La Riviera, where the 26-year-old Portuguese international allegedly stole the phone from a 58-year-old man who attempted to take a photo of him without his consent in the club's restrooms.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, the arrest took place around 5.30:XNUMX in the morning, when the police, alerted by the club, confirmed that Nunes still had the phone. The footballer was handcuffed and taken to the police station in the Arganzuela neighborhood for questioning.
Despite the incident, Nunes played in the Champions League match against Slovan, demonstrating that, at least on the sporting front, Manchester City has decided not to take immediate action. The legal case remains ongoing, however, and further clarification from the Spanish authorities is awaited.
