His name was Antonio Nazzaro , a 60-year-old worker at Magazzini Generali Spa: he is the latest victim of a terrible workplace accident inside the commercial port of Naples.
The man died from injuries sustained after being hit by a mechanical vehicle while carrying out his regular duties.
The news has deeply shocked the port community, causing a wave of grief and indignation. Filt Cgil Napoli e Campania, expressing its deepest condolences to the family of Antonio Nazzaro, has underlined how this latest loss is unacceptable and requires immediate and decisive action.
"We cannot accept that a worker loses his life in this way," said Angelo Lustro , general secretary of Filt Cgil Naples and Campania . "Workplace safety is a fundamental right that can no longer be neglected. It's time to take concrete action to prevent similar tragedies and guarantee decent working conditions for all dockworkers."
Filt Cgil calls on the competent institutions and companies operating in the port sector to intensify controls, invest in cutting-edge security systems and promote a culture of prevention that places the protection of human life at its core. A change of direction is needed to prevent other families from having to mourn the loss of a loved one due to avoidable accidents.
Cisl: The Soi in force at the Port should be a real operational tool
Another death. Yet another, and in a high-risk sector. Just the other day, we, the CGIL and UIL unions, signed a safety protocol with the City of Naples to protect workers on construction sites. We believe that words are no longer sufficient in the face of these tragedies.
We are all called to commit ourselves to putting an end to the daily massacre which is unworthy of a civilized country".
This is according to Melicia Comberiati, general secretary of the CISL union in Naples. According to Gennaro Imparato, regional coordinator of the CISL ports in Campania, "we believe that the SOI (Integrated Operations Service) Protocol in force in the port of Naples should be a real operational tool that calls for greater collaboration, communication, and information between security officials, companies, and the signatory institutions.
It must not be a mere document that is updated from time to time, leaving significant gaps unresolved. It is necessary to ensure greater freedom of access to the terminals by the site Rlss for more effective monitoring, and we ask for more active cooperation between all parties involved to prevent further tragedies”

It is really sad to read about these tragedies at work, we hope that finally something concrete can be done to guarantee the safety of workers.
What a terrible tragedy, no one should lose their life at work. It is really important to ensure the safety of workers.
