The Democratic Party suspends Alfieri, the opposition also attacks De Luca

The note from the Democratic Party suspending Franco arrives Alfieri, president of the province of Salerno and mayor of Capaccio-Paestum arrested today for corruption.

“In relation to the investigation by the Salerno Prosecutor's Office, which led to the arrest of Franco Alfieri, mayor of Capaccio and president of the Province of Salerno, the Democratic Party expresses full confidence in the work of the judiciary.

The Salerno federation of the Democratic Party convened the Provincial Guarantee Commission, which decided to immediately suspend Alfieri from the register of members of the Democratic Party, as required by the internal rules of the Party in relation to the seriousness of the crimes contested”.

Thus in a note the Democratic senator Antonio Misiani, regional commissioner of the Democratic Party in Campania.

“We have full confidence in the Judiciary with the certainty that Franco Alfieri will be able to demonstrate in a short time his total extraneousness to the facts. We hope that this happens as soon as possible and we express our closeness to President Alfieri, on behalf of myself and the provincial administration”.

He said it instead Giovanni Guzzo, vice president of the Province of Salerno.

Nappi: “De Luca cannot turn away”

“The constant and repeated involvement of the people closest to President De Luca in judicial investigations demonstrates what we have been denouncing for years: a system that has its epicenter in Salerno but is destroying Campania like a cancer. We are supporters of due process and we hope that all those involved in this affair can demonstrate their lack of involvement in what is being contested.

The fact remains, however, that we are faced with yet another sign of a business-oriented and 'hungry' management that is tarnishing the image of our region, and with respect to which De Luca cannot turn away". Undersecretary Ferrante: “We are guarantors but the Deluchiana system has failed”

“The investigation by the Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office which led to the arrest of the President of the Province and Mayor of Capaccio Paestum, Franco Alfieri, contains serious hypotheses on which it is up to the judiciary to shed full light.

Forza Italia is and will always remain a guarantor movement, however it poses a political issue of government of the institutions in our territory. Alfieri, a loyal follower of President Vincenzo De Luca, was the protagonist of a sad season based on familism and mere clientelism and repeatedly indicated as an example to follow by the governor of the Campania region himself.

The Deluchian system of public affairs management is confirmed as a paradigm of bad left-wing politics, a wound that for decades has afflicted and marginalized citizens, local administrators and businesses outside the logic of power and that cannot continue to damage the image and the economic-social fabric of our territory. For this reason, as Forza Italia we will continue to work, together with our center-right allies, to offer a strong and credible alternative in the province of Salerno and throughout Campania. It is time to reaffirm the centrality of good politics”.

Martusciello (FI): “Alfieri? Clearly unsuitable for the role”

We are waiting for full light to be shed on this affair, but there is no doubt that this morning's blitz in the Salerno area that led to the imprisonment of several people, including the mayor of Capaccio Paestum and president of the province of Salerno Franco Alfieri, places us in front of a series of legitimate questions on the model of management of public affairs so highly praised by De Luca". He and five other suspects are charged with various crimes of disrupting the freedom of auctions and corruption for an act contrary to official duties”.
