The community of Pianura is mourning the death of Concetta Mele, the 72-year-old woman who died after twenty days of agony following a tragic road accident on Via Provinciale Napoli.
Mrs. Mele was hit by a car while she was on the street, and despite the attempts of the medical staff at the “Ospedale del Mare” in Ponticelli, where she had been admitted to the Surgery department, her injuries proved fatal.
The driver responsible for the incident was identified shortly after the accident and reported.
It is possible that his legal position will be further complicated by the tragic death of Concetta Mele.
L'incident occurred on Saturday, September 28, a few steps from the victim's home. The serious injuries sustained in the impact included a head injury with cerebral hemorrhage, a chest injury with multiple fractures and lung injuries, as well as fractures to the pelvis.
After being transported to the “Ospedale del Mare”, Concetta Mele fought for her life until this morning, when she stopped breathing.
