It was recently concluded at the la photographic "“, which successfully welcomed around 700 thousand visitors. The event, the result of the photographic campaigns “Attraversamenti” by Luciano D'Inverno and “Genius et Loci – La drammaturgia dello sguardo” by Luciano Romano, is part of the annual celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the death of the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli. This exhibition was of significant importance for the Reggia, not only in terms of public attendance, but also for the enrichment of the cultural heritage of the Museum with over one hundred and thirty works.

Artistic Expression and Celebration of Vanvitelli

With “Visioni”, the Royal Palace of Caserta intended to celebrate the legacy of Luigi Vanvitelli through a new artistic perspective. Luciano D'Inverno explored, with his photographs, the Carolino Aqueduct, a work of great hydraulic engineering, covering the 40 kilometers that separate the sources of the Fizzo from the Royal Park of the Royal Palace. On the other hand, Luciano Romano paid homage to Vanvitelli's fundamental contribution to modern architecture, immortalizing various Italian scenarios in which his architectural mastery is considered monumental.

Importance of the Museum Role

The exhibition was more than just a cultural encounter; it represented an important step in the international vision of the Royal Palace of Caserta today, in keeping with its contemporary museum mission. Director Tiziana Maffei stressed the importance of a clear vision to guide the museum's long-term management and planning, consciously addressing the opportunities and challenges of the future.

Contemporary Photography as a Narration Tool

In the context of the exhibition, there was also a significant reflection on the role of contemporary photography as a narrative vehicle. In a meeting at the Gran Galleria della Reggia, scholars and artists examined how photography can express, with immediacy, salient moments in the history of art and culture, as well as influence the way we connect with and understand the space around us. Modern photography therefore acts as a powerful means of representation and discussion.
