The appeal trial that took place before the Court of Naples concluded after ten hearings with the confirmation of the sentence issued in the first instance by the Court of Torre Annunziata.

Vincenzo Esposito, a 34-year-old expert rock climber, lost his life in a work-related accident on September 2, 2016.

The tragedy occurred in the Valle dei Mulini of Gragnano, while Esposito, together with a colleague and his brother, was cleaning a rocky ridge for the installation of a containment net.

For this episode, the Court of Appeal of Naples, criminal section, confirmed the sentence of two years of imprisonment, with suspended sentence, issued by the court of Torre Annunziata to Luigi Mascolo and to the payment of a provisional sum of 120 thousand euros to the victim's wife (assisted by the lawyer Massimo Autieri) and 30 thousand euros each to the victim's three children in addition to an additional 5 thousand euros each to two other family members who had also joined the civil action.

Mascolo, a farmer who managed an agricultural estate owned by a woman from Caserta, was considered the client of the works, which were deemed “illegal”.
