Sanseverino Young Art, its second edition, has transformed Mercato Sanseverino into a hub of visual and musical arts. This year, the festival welcomed talent from seven Italian regions in addition to Campania: Lombardy, Puglia, Lazio, Marche, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, and Trentino-Alto Adige.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Sabatini-Menna art school of Salerno and the Francesco Terrone Foundation of Ripacandida and Ginestra, the event saw the participation of numerous young artists and musicians who animated the Palazzo Vanvitelliano and other locations in the municipality.
An Important Event for the Campania Artistic Scene
The Mayor of Mercato San Severino, Antonio Somma, declared: “Sanseverino Young Art represents a key moment for our community…” The festival, made possible thanks to the contribution of the Campania Region and other important cultural institutions, has established itself as one of the main regional artistic events, with the patronage of Rai Campania, the Ministry of Culture and various conservatories and academies. The final evening, hosted by Milena Miconi at the Teatro Comunale di Mercato Sanseverino, was the culmination of six days of exhibitions, workshops and live performances.
Awards for Young Talents in the Arts and Music
A highlight was the awards ceremony, judged by a jury composed of illustrious figures in the Italian art and music scene. Among the distinguished participants were artists such as Rosaria Iazzetta, Marco Alfano, and Paolo Bini for the art section, and luminaries such as Vincenzo Corrado, Nicola Hansalik Samale, and Tiziano Citro for the music section. Furthermore, the festival benefited from the support of a network of local businesses, underscoring the importance of creating synergies between culture and the local area. School principals Rossella De Luca, Luigia Trivisonde, Laura Teodosio, and Anna Buonoconto played a key role in the event's growth, while artist and photographer Luigi Giordano captured the highlights of this extraordinary edition. Images of sculptures and a variety of art installations were exhibited in the cloister of the Palazzo Vanvitelliano, highlighting the emerging talent of the young participants. Looking ahead, Councilor Vincenza Cavaliere hopes that “Sanseverino Young Art” will become a regular event for all those who believe in the transformative power of art.
