Torre Annunziata. "The current management has never received extortion demands; we saved Savoia and the good name of Torre Annunziata by taking over the club, which was targeted by the Camorra."

Savoia 1908 Football Club has issued a statement regarding the investigation by the Carabinieri and the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), which led to the arrest of five alleged members of the Gionta clan, believed by investigators to be involved in extortion demands against the club's executives at the time, in August 2022 to be precise.

In a statement signed by the legal representative of the Savoy, Arcangelo Sessa, strongly reiterates that "no one will be allowed to approach our company, nor will episodes of this type be repeated", underlining that we are in a preliminary phase of the investigation, "but if these facts were confirmed, they would be very serious".

"Our club," it reads, "has been working since December 2022 to restore the image Savoia deserves and remove any association with the Camorra, which, unfortunately, devastated this city. We will continue to pursue a clean football project, taking kids off the streets with our Academy, which already has over 250 members, and we will do everything we can to ensure similar incidents never happen again."

The statement continues by highlighting the importance of justice and the work of law enforcement in the area: "What has been reported concerns Savoia Calcio's past and situations that must not be repeated, but if it were to happen again, there is no need to be afraid and report it immediately.

We have rescued this team from the hands of the Camorra, as Emanuele Filiberto also recalled in a recent statement, and we will continue with our project to contribute to the redemption of the city and the entire region."
