Breeding facility seized in Caserta – An illegal breeding facility for large dogs, including pitbulls, kept in precarious hygienic and sanitary conditions, was dismantled by the Carabinieri Forestali in a joint operation with the veterinary service of the ASL of Caserta. The breeding facility, located in a fenced area, housed the animals in makeshift structures and in inadequate conditions.
The Carabinieri found the dogs tied to short iron chains inside boxes open on one side and covered with insulated panels. Among the animals were two pitbulls, two Dogo Argentini, two American Staffordshire Terriers and a German Shepherd, all without food and adequate assistance. One of the pitbulls showed signs of a bilateral conchectomy, or cropping of the ears, a practice prohibited in Italy.
The owner of the breeding farm was reported for animal cruelty and detention in conditions incompatible with their nature, causing serious suffering. The dogs were seized and entrusted to an authorized facility to ensure their safety and well-being.
