The competent authorities have announced a plan of controls and investments to improve working conditions.
Analysis of the critical issues that emerged:
Inadequate safety signage: Shortcomings were found in the reporting of risks present in work areas, particularly in the logistics park.
Lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Not all workers had the PPE necessary to perform their duties safely.
Training deficiencies: The need to implement specific, updated and periodic training courses aimed at all professional figures involved in port operations has emerged.
Measures taken:
Enhanced signage: New safety signage, including acoustic and light sensors, will be installed in the highest risk areas.
Provision of PPE: Companies operating in the port will be required to provide their employees with adequate PPE, ensuring its correct maintenance and use.
Planning of training courses: INAIL, in collaboration with the Port System Authority, will organize specific training courses on workplace safety issues, with particular attention to technical standards and operating procedures.
Periodic inspections: The supervisory bodies (ASL, INPS, INAIL, Inspectorate) will carry out periodic inspections to verify compliance with current legislation and the effectiveness of the measures adopted.
Involvement of workers' safety representatives (RLS): The RLS will be actively involved in the definition and implementation of safety measures, in order to ensure greater participation and empowerment of workers.
Monitoring and updating:
Technical tables will be set up at the Port Authority to constantly monitor the implementation of the measures adopted and to identify any further corrective actions. The Prefect of Naples will also ensure constant monitoring of the progress of the planned initiatives.
