Somma Vesuviana (Naples) – A 200-square-meter villa with a swimming pool, along with a 2000-square-meter surrounding area, was seized by the Carabinieri of the Ottaviano Park Forestry Unit. The home, located near the historic "Domus Villa Augustea," a Roman-era archaeological complex, was found to be completely illegal.
The investigation revealed that the construction had been carried out without any urban planning or landscape authorization. The owner of the villa and the company that carried out the work were reported at large. The entire area was seized. During further checks in the Municipality of Somma Vesuviana, the military discovered other illegal constructions: three villas intended for residential use, six swimming pools and two padel courts, also built without permits. Following these violations, 12 other people were reported to the Judicial Authority.
The inspections were also extended to areas within the National Park of Vesuvio, where further unauthorized construction work was detected. The operations ended with fines and further seizures, confirming a widespread picture of illegal construction in the area, subject to highly significant landscape and archaeological constraints.
