The story unfolds in a small town, San Marzano sul Manfredi, where the parish of San Marzano Martire is experiencing a crisis to the point that the Vatican is about to close it. The parish priest, Don Franco, tries everything he can: organizing a show to raise funds. However, his plan to stage "Notre Dame de Paris" in the small church encounters unexpected obstacles. The arrival of the Curia inspector, Agostino Fonseca, upsets the already precarious balance, leading the situation to spiral into paradox.
