The turning on of radiators in Campania is still postponed, but the date is approaching. According to the decree of the President of the Republic of April 16, 2013, domestic heating will be regulated on a territorial basis, with the possibility of derogations in the event of extraordinary conditions.
In the cities of Naples, Caserta, Salerno and Benevento, included in climate band C, the radiators can be turned on starting from November 15th until March 31st, for a maximum of 10 hours a day. The situation is different for Avellino, a city belonging to climate band D, where the turning on is brought forward to November 1st and will last until April 15th, with the possibility of keeping the radiators on for up to 12 hours a day.
The law requires an average temperature of 19 degrees, with a tolerance of 2 degrees, to ensure thermal comfort without excessive energy waste. Municipalities can still intervene with derogations, in case of particular needs due to cold waves or exceptional weather conditions.
