Castellanate. The body of Silvia Nowak, the 53-year-old German woman who disappeared in recent days, has been found.
The macabre discovery took place this morning in the locality of Ogliastro Marina, among the thick vegetation, on a piece of land not far from the house where she lived with her husband, also German.
The man himself had reported the 53-year-old's disappearance on Tuesday afternoon: according to his story, Silvia Nowak had left home early in the morning without taking anything with her.
The surveillance cameras had captured the woman as she headed towards the centre of castellabate, then disappear into thin air.
After the discovery of the body, covered in burns, the husband of the 53-year-old is currently being held at the Carabinieri station in Santa Maria di Castellabate for questioning.
The lifeless body, hidden behind some brush, was found by local police officers and Civil Protection volunteers. The prosecutor of the Vallo della Lucania Prosecutor's Office was also on site.
The German couple had also bought a house in Castellabate
“The news,” said the mayor of Castellabate, “has left the entire community shocked and astonished. We still don’t know if it’s her. What I can say is that the two have lived in my town for a few years. I think they had even bought a house. They had integrated and were known in the area. We have no reports of any critical issues or episodes of violence of any kind against them.”
