The last session of the National Consultation of FILDA (Italian Federation of Self-Employed Employees), which acted as a representative of the territorial union branches throughout the nation, had as its central theme that of pensions and the Italian social security system.

This meeting based the discussion on the data provided by the latest INPS report. This has in fact shown how the actual average retirement age in Italy is equal to just over 64 years, therefore lower than that provided for by the pension system in force since 2012 (the so-called Fornero law), which is instead 67 years.

The data examined, therefore, show that alongside those who actually retire at the age indicated by law, others reach this goal with several years of advantage, remembering that 64 years is the average.

As a result of this information, FILDA has decided to ask for and promote some changes that can make pensions more equitable, also referring to art. 3 of the Italian Constitution, according to which all citizens are equal before the law.

FILDA's proposals include:

– Elimination of the 20-year minimum contribution period;

– Single coefficient and single insurance for all public, private or self-employed workers;

– Single retirement age, the same for everyone;

– Possibility from 61/62 years of age onwards to be able to choose Part Time Pension/work;

– Contribution System for all;

– Increase at 70 years minimum 1000 euros;

The secretary of FILDA, Carmine Piccolo, declares on the subject that "It is not possible to continue with this pension system that does not help or support anyone, especially the weakest groups, we need to make a radical reform that redesigns the entire pension system with the criterion of equality".

To this the secretary then adds, concluding, "there are diversities and disparities in the pension system that are no longer tolerable, it is time to intervene, all citizens are equal, the constitution says, but in the current pension system this is not the case, we need to change".
