A 39-year-old Tunisian was arrested yesterday evening in Villa Literno, in the Caserta area, after being caught by the Carabinieri while he was selling hashish to a fellow countryman. The episode occurred in Corso Umberto I, where the Carabinieri were carrying out a territorial control service.
The dealer, with evident nonchalance, had even rolled a joint and started smoking it before completing the transaction, receiving 20 euros in exchange. His safety proved fatal: he didn't notice the arrival of the Carabinieri, who immediately stopped and searched him. During the search, the officers found two additional sticks of hashish, individually wrapped and 5 cm long each, along with 20 euros, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The Tunisian, already known for drug-related crimes, was accompanied to the Carabinieri station in Villa Literno, where he was arrested and held in the security cells. This morning, the judicial authority validated the arrest and ordered him to report to the judicial police. The Carabinieri control service continues, with the aim of combating the phenomenon of drug dealing in the area.
