Welcomed with great enthusiasm al of Castellammare di Stabia.

In the late afternoon of October 15th, the public of Castellammare di Stabia was able to admire his intellectual qualities and his marked humanity, thanks to the literary review “Platealmente dal libro alla scena”, created by Casa del Contemporaneo and curated by the Journalist and Professor .

Entertaining him on stage was not only Fiorenza, who amiably conversed with him on literary topics, also addressing those relating to the current situation of society, but also the actress from Castellammare di Stabia, Federica Citarella, who was entrusted with reading some passages from the detective novel recently published by Veltroni: “Il commissario Buonvino e il circo insanguinato”, published by Marsilio and the protagonist of the second appointment of the review.

Inspector Buonvino is already known to readers, especially to crime novel fans, since this novel, set in the circus, represents the fifth episode of a series dedicated to him by the author, within the scope of the literary production of this genre.

The last chapter presented at the Karol, tells the story of Manuelita, an expert acrobat and daughter of the stage director of the circus company, settled in Rome during the Christmas period at the Parco dei Daini. In that tragic show, which is also attended by Commissioner Buonvino, Manuelita loses her life during a complex acrobatics. The young woman, in fact, by an unfortunate fatality falls in the only point not protected by the net.

Due to professional deformation, but also to experience, Buonvino is convinced that something else is hidden behind the dramatic case. Among the members of what seems to be a close-knit family of artists, there are in fact feelings of envy and hatred, which support his suspicions for the purposes of the investigation.

The figure of Commissioner Buonvino, the choice of the circus, as well as the Roman setting offer food for thought on which the prestigious guest, during the meeting, focused in a timely and heartfelt manner, letting the memories of his childhood flow and highlighting the painful notes of today's society, as well as the progressive sad distancing from a reality in which everything is manipulable.

Artificial intelligence with its uncontrolled development, the trivialization of language that has ended up impoverishing people's ability to express themselves, increasingly attracted by the repeated and constant use of neologisms that have nothing to do with the ability to interpret feelings, typical of our language, the domination of social media that encourages solitude for those who are looking for consensus - noisy, moreover, because it is supported by the amount of likes gained - that kills friendly, public, social relationships, and leads towards the false idea of freedom of a community only apparently in motion, the kindness that increasingly escapes the connotation of virtue, taking on the role of a precious transgression in our time invaded by hatred, resentment, rudeness - it is no coincidence that Commissioner Buonvino is a kind person, who does not build walls, reaches out, has faith in others, but who is sadly underestimated even in the workplace; These, then, are the burning issues on which Walter Veltroni expressed himself, also offering the story of episodes linked to his experience, or deduced from everyday reality, attracting the keen attention of an interested audience visibly fascinated by his style and the contents proposed.

The meeting took place in the presence of Mayor Luigi Vicinanza, linked to Veltroni by a consolidated and long-standing friendship, who after an affectionate embrace, took the opportunity to express his infinite esteem, highlighting the intellectual depth that has consecrated him as an excellent politician, and defined him - amusingly inspired by the surname of his literary character - "the best distillate of Italian politics".

“Buonvino and the Bloody Circus” announces itself as a detective story, but it is also a psychological novel and therefore a pleasant entertainment of 194 pages in which to delve not only into the investigation, but also into the peculiarities of a commissioner beyond the ordinary. Buonvino, who reveals fragility – but who is strengthened by it – has a positive view of the world around him, is moved by valid intuitions, is inclined to explore the human soul in a profound way, evaluates people's feelings, fears and hopes because they are the same ones that worry him.
