Regional councilor Giovanni Zannini, accused of having exploited his political role to favor the nominations of his own supporters.
According to the investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Zannini would have personally delivered "notes" containing the names of the candidates to be favored, thus bypassing the competitive procedures and guaranteeing the hiring of people who were not necessarily deserving.
Overwhelming evidence
The charges against the regional councilor are supported by a substantial investigative dossier. First of all, the recorded conversations would have captured Zannini while he was giving precise instructions on how to manipulate the rankings and favor certain candidates.
Then there are the video surveillance images that allegedly captured the regional councilor while he physically delivered the "pizzini" to the ASL offices.
During the searches carried out in the homes and offices of Zannini and the other suspects, numerous documents were seized that would confirm the politician's involvement in a consolidated corruption system.
A corrupt system
The investigation has revealed a perverse mechanism in which political power was used to condition access to public employment, with serious repercussions on the transparency and fairness of competitive procedures. The investigation is still ongoing and could lead to the emergence of further responsibilities.
Among those under investigation is Alfredo Campoli, a well-known Mondragone businessman active in the environmental services sector. Zannini allegedly received two scooters from Campoli as a gift for his children in exchange for the politician's "help" in securing a contract in the municipality of Teano.
And among the crimes that the prosecutor's office is accusing the regional councilor of is also that of extortion in a case that links him to the Griffo brothers (both under investigation), entrepreneurs who own a well-known company specializing in the production of mozzarella di Bufala campana DOP.
The regional councilor and the other suspects allegedly intervened in the unblocking of procedures for the construction of plants in exchange for favors, including a boat trip to Capri that would have cost over 7.300 euros.

“I trust in the work of the judiciary to which I have provided full cooperation and in the next few days I will ask to be heard by the investigators to provide them with all the explanations and demonstrate my total extraneousness to the facts that are contested to me”.
Thus, in a note, Giovanni Zannini, regional councilor of Campania of the De Luca President list, and head of the VII Commission for the Environment, Energy and Civil Protection of the Regional Council of Campania. Zannini is under investigation as part of an investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere into contracts in the environmental sector and favors he allegedly received from some entrepreneurs including trips and scooters for his children.
