Residents and business owners are celebrating the City of Naples' decision to block the pedestrianization of part of Piazza degli Artisti, in the Arenella neighborhood. The measure, which limited vehicular traffic, sparked strong protests due to its negative impact on residents' daily lives and the local economy.
The Municipality's transparency commission, meeting to discuss the issue, highlighted the serious problems of traffic congestion and pollution caused by pedestrianization.

Gennaro New Year, president of the Comitato Valori Colliri, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the case, emphasizing that pedestrianization had caused significant inconvenience to residents, particularly due to the lack of parking. Capodanno also criticized the municipal administration's traffic decisions, deeming them "trial-and-error" and ineffective.
The commercial activities in the area have been significantly affected by the pedestrianization, recording a drop in sales due to the difficulty of access for customers, both by private and public transport. Some shops have even decided to close.
