Antonella Ruggiero is celebrating the centenary of Giacomo Puccini's death with the release of "Puccini?", an album reinterpreting the illustrious composer's arias. The idea is to revive Puccini's music with a modern approach, blending tradition and innovation.

A Long Work

The entire project began in 2001 and has developed over the years, culminating in a final edition that includes arias such as "Recondita armonia" from Tosca and "Nessun dorma" from Turandot. The choice of songs was guided by a love of melody, and the arrangements focused on making the tones more natural and engaging.

A Respectful and Innovative Approach

Antonella Ruggiero explains that she imagined Puccini himself, amused by the idea of breaking free from the confines of traditional opera. The artistic and musical production is by Roberto Colombo, with Francesco Buzzurro providing the musical arrangements for the pieces that call for the guitar.

A Versatile Voice

Antonella Ruggiero is recognized for her vocal versatility and ability to span diverse genres, always maintaining a high level of elegance and intensity in her performances. After a long career with Matia Bazar, her solo career began in 1996 with the album "Libera." The release of "Puccini?" on November 29, 2024, represents a further step in her ongoing musical exploration. The album is available in various formats, including CD digipack, vinyl, and digital, under the Libera/BMG label, marking an important milestone in the celebrations of the Lucca-born composer.
