She had earned the trust of the elderly woman who had hired her as a maid, but behind the apparently caring gestures there was a criminal plan. A 37-year-old woman of Romanian origin was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery in a home and improper use of payment instruments. The case, which shocked the neighborhood, was solved thanks to the work of the agents of the VII San Giovanni District of the State Police.

It all started one October morning, when the maid offered the old lady some blueberry juice.

An apparent act of kindness that actually concealed the addition of benzodiazepines to narcotize the woman. The victim was found unconscious by her family that evening, lying next to her bed. Rushed to the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with a drug overdose.

Upon regaining consciousness, the elderly woman realized that her credit cards had been used for numerous withdrawals during the day. When she returned home, she discovered that a bottle of benzodiazepines, a drug she had not touched in years, was completely empty. The woman, suspicious, told her family everything, who accompanied her to report the matter to the police.

The investigations of the agents of the VII San Giovanni District allowed them to quickly reconstruct the movements of the maid. The surveillance cameras of the condominium and of the credit institutions where the withdrawals had been made provided decisive evidence. From the initial investigations, it emerged that the woman was already wanted for a similar episode that occurred in Naples in 2016. On the basis of this information, the Judge for preliminary investigations ordered her detention in prison. The thirty-seven-year-old was intercepted at the Termini station in Roma, returning from Naples. She is now in prison, seriously suspected of the crimes contested.
