### Origins and Growth of the Festival

Laceno d'Oro, a prestigious film festival founded in 1959 by Pier Paolo Pasolini, takes place in Avellino with the aim of promoting neorealist film culture in Irpinia. Under the artistic direction of Maria Vittoria Pellecchia and the guidance of the Circolo ImmaginAzione, the event has over the years hosted illustrious names such as Paul Schrader, Abel Ferrara and Ken Loach, consolidating its relevance in the international film scene.

### Program and Collaborations

The event will be held from December 1st to 8th in Avellino, with a rich program of screenings, meetings with directors, concerts, exhibitions, and workshops. Three international competitions are planned: "Laceno d'Oro 49" for feature films, "Gli occhi sulla città" for urban-themed short films, and "Spazio Campania" for works related to the Campania region. The festival is supported by the Campania Region, the Campania Region Film Commission, the Ministry of Culture, and other local authorities. Arnaud Desplechin, originally from Roubaix, has established himself as an influential figure in young French cinema, with a career that includes collaborations with renowned actors such as Mathieu Amalric and Catherine Deneuve.
