Despite the technique being well-known, two Neapolitan scammers were unable to pull off their scam thanks to the timely intervention of the Carabinieri. The incident occurred in Letino, a small town on the border between the provinces of Caserta and Molise.
An 80-year-old woman received a call from a man posing as her nephew, telling her he had been stopped by the Carabinieri and needed a sum of money to avoid arrest. The fake nephew asked her to prepare all the gold and cash she had at home, assuring her that two women would come by to collect the money.
Alarmed, theelderly She immediately contacted her daughter, discovering that her nephew was actually with her and in no trouble with the law. The alarm was immediately raised, and the Carabinieri of Capriati al Volturno were alerted.

The officers, arriving near the woman's home, noticed and stopped the two suspects while they were driving a rented Dacia Sandero. The women, both with prior convictions for fraud, were without identification. The Carabinieri also seized the cell phones used to make the fraudulent call.
The two scammers have been reported, demonstrating once again that, while scam attempts may vary, the vigilance and promptness of law enforcement and citizens can make a difference.

It's amazing how people can fall for such stupid scams. We hope these women are punished severely. It's always important to verify information before acting, especially when it comes to money and family.
The news is interesting and shows how scams can happen to anyone, especially older people. It is important to be careful and communicate with family members in case of suspicious situations. The police have done a good job.
