Three men of Georgian origin, all in their thirties, were arrested for aggravated theft after committing a robbery at the home of a pensioner in the province of Rieti. While they were speeding toward Naples with the loot, they were stopped by the Highway Police along the Caserta section of the A1.
The high speed of the car aroused the suspicions of the officers, which led to a search of the vehicle. Inside, the officers found three thousand euros in cash, jewelry, and burglary tools, including some "Bulgarian keys" used to force the locks.
The investigations conducted immediately by the Highway Police Caserta have allowed the three to be linked to the theft that had occurred shortly before in the province of Rieti. The victim, an elderly man who was absent at the time of the theft, had already reported the incident when he returned home.
The objects found in the possession of the three corresponded to those stolen from the pensioner's home, thus confirming their guilt. The thieves were then arrested and transferred to the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
